About us

Fasset (the Seta for Finance Accounting, Management Consulting and Other Financial Services) is playing an important role in helping to create a pipeline of finance, accounting, management consulting and other financial services talent for the entire South African economy.

Fasset encourages learners to pursue finance related careers. Careers in the Fasset sector include: investment entities and trusts and company secretary services; stockbroking and financial markets; financial development organisations; accounting, bookkeeping, auditing and tax services; business and management consulting services; the South African Revenue Service; the national and provincial treasuries; and other activities auxiliary to financial intermediation, such as debt collection.

Fasset has partnered with the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians), ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), IIA (the Institute of Internal Auditors), ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers), ICSA (The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Southern Africa), IPFA (Institute of Public Finance Accountants), SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants), and SAIPA (South African Institute of Professional Accountants).
Fasset learnerships culminate in occupationally-directed qualifications registered with professional bodies.

Twenty-nine learnerships have been registered, including accounting qualifications with various areas of specialisation, bookkeeping qualifications, small business financial management, office administration, auditing and debt recovery qualifications.

While some Fasset learnerships have specific requirements, including Mathematics, English and Accounting, the door is still open to pursue a career in the Fasset sector. The only requirement for entry-level AAT, ACCA, and CIMA’s entry-level qualifications is that candidates are 16 years of age, numerate and literate.

Recognising that graduates often struggle to find employment because they lack work experience and some of the softer skills that are a prerequisite for workplace success, for a number of years Fasset has funded Work Readiness Programmes for unemployed graduates with Finance and Accounting degrees and diplomas, and unemployed graduates from all degree programmes, which fall within the Fasset scarce skills areas.

Fasset has achieved a 100% placement rate on completion of its learnerships, and placement rates well in excess of 70% for Fasset-funded Work Readiness Programmes.
